Anchor away

Skirt: Jcrew Factory | Shirt: Old Navy ( old, similar here) | Shoes: Shoe Mint ( old, similar here) |
Purse: Valentino ( similar here) | Watch: Hermes

Happy Thursday!
Now that summer is becoming closer and closer to ending, I have been trying to wear summery clothes as much as I can! lol I saw this anchor blouse I got last year sitting in my closet and noticed that I haven't even worn it all summer long so I decided it that now is the time to wear it! gotta wear it before summer ends! so...that is how this became my outfit of the day. I paired it with my go to skirt from Jcrew Factory ( seriously best skirt ever!) and gave it a pop with my favorite color of all times!

Tomorrow we are heading to Boston to meet my little niece for the very first time! I am so excited =)

Striped top

Top: Loft ( on major sale now!!) | Jeans: Paige | Shoes: BP | Bag: Prada | Watch: MK | X-ring: Baublebar

I know its still 90 something degrees outside but...yesterday I felt like I was coming down with a cold because I was not feeling well. ( I think I was just exhausted from the past week) SO, I decided to wear jeans out yesterday instead of wearing a skirt, shorts, or dresses that I always wear in the summer. Whelp, turns out that it was SO hot that I ended up switching to a skirt later on that day lol but I managed to snag some photos while I was still wearing this outfit!

I grabbed this top when I stopped by Loft the other day ( the same time I bought the skirt) and I couldn't be happier. I love collared shirts because they give any outfit a little extra dressy feel to it. I think this top will go with literally ANYTHING! Its so light and easy to wear and on top of that it is on major sale right now!!!

On a different note, yesterday on FB, we announced that we have purchased our very first home and we could not be more excited!! We have been so busy because of that but I hope to document our journey of making this house into our home so stay tuned on instagram and this blog =)

thank you so much for reading as always!

Midi dress

Dress: Loft ( similar here) | Necklace: Jcrew | Shoes: Gucci ( similar here) | Purse: Prada ( similar here) | Bracelet: David Yurman

I wore this dress to our friend's baby's 1st birthday this past weekend and let me tell ya...this is one of the comfiest dresses ever! I purchased this from Loft a month or so ago and I think they are not carrying it anymore BUT they do have similar style dresses still online and in stores ( I linked it above) I tried on the all gray one I linked above too and it was very similar and comfy! I love how this dress can be dressed up or down given the long length! I wore it with flat sandals this past weekend! I can't wait to transition this dress into fall, layered with some warmer pieces!!

We have been so busy lately with a bunch of exciting things happening in our life!! Hopefully I can keep up with this blog with all the busy stuff haha

Fall-ish

Top: Belk | Pants: gift, similar here (only $5!!!) | Bag: Tory Burch ( this years version here)| Shoes: Jessica Simpson ( old, similar here) | Hat: similar here | Necklace: similar here

Happy Friday!!
Even though its been soooo humid and hot lately ( today was 98 degrees!) I have been dreaming of fall ( my fav season!) and fall outfits! I know this outfit is not quiet fall-ish but its definitely a lot less summer like than my flowy bright dresses that I have loved wearing through out the summer!

Let me talk about how comfortable these pants are!! I got mine as a gift but the one I linked above is only $5 and they look identical! I love wearing these pants to travel because of its comfort but you can definitely dress them up by pairing them with heels like I did here :)

We are heading to Raleigh tomorrow for a friend's baby's 1st birthday and we may go white water rafting on Sunday ( so excited!!)

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Floral top

Top: Banana Republic ( old, similar here) | Shorts: Old Navy | Shoes: Gucci ( similar here) more affordable here) | Purse: Proenza Schouler | Necklace: Forever 21 ( old, similar here) | Watch: Hermes | Bracelet: Jcrew Factory

Happy hump day everyone!
Today's outfit colors are my favorite ever! ( aside from pinks lol)
Seriously, blue and white is definitely one of the best color combos!! I love adding a pop of color to blue and white to make an outfit really stand out! This time I went with my go-to yellow purse and I love the way this outfit turned out! If you are hesitant to add a bright color to your outfit, its always best to go with a bright purse, shoes, or accessory instead of adding the pop with your clothes. I love adding a pop to any outfit and if you haven't tried to do it yet, you should definitely try it asap! Its so fun!! =)

Blue and white stripes

Skirt: Loft | Tshirt: Target | Shoes: Jessica Simpson ( old, similar here) | Purse: Tory Burch | Watch: Michael Kors

This past weekend was a fun filled weekend for Tim and I! We had a friend's daughter's 3rd birthday at the park and also a home cooked dinner at our friends house. The girl's party was Frozen themed and it was soooo cute! Gosh I love that movie! lol
After the park, we headed to another friend's house for a home cooked meal! They cooked us Indian buttered chicken and it was soooo yummy! It makes me drool thinking about it right now! haha We played games afterwards and had so much fun!

I wore this outfit with flats to the park and to our friend's house afterwards for dinner. I found this skirt when I randomly stopped at Loft the other day ( bad decision! lol) I saw it casually hanging out by itself on a hanger and was immediately drawn to it! hello?! its blue and white stripes!!! AND its my favorite type of style for skirts!!!
I crossed my finger and flipped the price tag and...voila! $44.99! on sale!! but wait...its on the take 40%off on top sale rack? does this mean...?? I carefully calculated in my head...40% off...wow! It will be under $30!! I told myself that I will only get it if it WAS actually on sale. I took it to the register and....YAY!!! it IS on sale!
so... this is how I ended up with this awesome skirt =) I debated what I should pair it with but of course the ONLY color that came to my mind was PINK! I wanted to pair it with a cute pink buttoned down shirt but since it was SO hot and SO humid that day, I ended up going for this pink Tee.
This skirt is still on sale for 40% off so definitely grab it before its gone ;)

I also wanted to share that my sister had her baby on Sunday and I couldn't be more excited! It is my very first niece and I can't even deal with her cuteness! I've only seen pictures so far since they live all the way in Boston but...we are planning to fly up there real soon so I can hold the precious little girl in my very own two hands!! I just can't wait!! =)

Thank you for reading!!

Blogger life

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!
I have been taking a break from blogging this past two weeks because I have been feeling really overwhelmed at posting a blog post every day of the week. Blogging is something that I really enjoy doing and I have always wanted to do but as all bloggers know, it can be very time consuming and it is a lot more work than what it may seem. I always knew that it would be quiet some work but after starting, I quickly realized that it was A LOT more work than what I had initially thought it would be haha

Also, if you are wondering, I did switch over "A Dash of Lisa" from the Wix website to Blogger.com because of many different factors. Blogger.com is so different from Wix and I feel like I have to learn how to blog all over again since EVERYTHING is completely different on this site but I am so excited to start using Blogger and I hope this site turns out just how I want down the road!

Today, I wanted to share a little bit more about myself and some honest thoughts about being a new fashion/life style blogger and things I have learned through my 4 months of blogging so far! ( I can't believe its been 4 months already!) If you are a blogger, I would love to hear your opinion and thoughts about starting a blog so please message me or comment below =)

To begin, My husband Tim, Dash, and I moved to Charlotte, NC almost one year ago in October of 2014. Before that, we lived in Fairfax, VA for 3 years. Tim's parents reside in Charlotte and we thought it was a great idea to move to Charlotte for a few years to help them get started on a retirement job! Before the big move, I worked as a paralegal at a patent law firm in VA but since we moved, we have been pretty busy traveling and planning on opening a restaurant ( coming soon to South End, Charlotte =)) so I have not been working full time. At first, this drove me so crazy! Working 9-5 everyday to not working at all was sooooo boring haha but eventually I got use to the whole not working routine but was still so bored with the extra time I had when we were not traveling or in business meetings. This is when I decided that I will start a blog to keep myself busy on my free time doing what I love to do...FASHION! I really would NOT call myself a fashionista or fashion forward girl but...one thing is true..that I have ALWAYS loved fashion!!! so, with that being said, this was a great opportunity for me to express my love for fashion and style.

That was the brief story of how I got started in blogging! Now on to some things I have learned in the past few months of blogging...

1.) Social media is SO important when you are a blogger of any sort. Whether it be a travel, interior design, food, or fashion blog..etc... Social media is your initial contact with your readers. Without outlets such as instagram, pinterest, or twitter, it would be VERY hard to reach your readers. ( and...I have never used twitter eeekk :/)

2.) This may only concern new fashion bloggers but it takes a lot of money and creativity to think of new outfits DAILY. I never even thought of this but when you purchase something at the store, you really need to wear that piece and blog about it ASAP because 1.) things sell out quick! 2.) If you can't link the item so the readers can purchase the same thing, its not as fun for readers. 3.) trends change so quickly!

I think this is the hardest part for me about being a fashion blogger because when I purchase a new clothing item, I like to hang it in my closet and wait for the perfect occasion to wear the item =). But I quickly realized that this doesn't really work if you are a fashion blogger. So many times where I finally wore that outfit and it was already not carried in stores or sold out... :/ so... now I can't even link the product even though the item is only a few weeks old...such a bummer...

Before I started blogging about fashion, I never knew that stores (usually) only carry an item for less than a month. After a month, all the clothes are brand new and different from the previous month. Crazy!! lol

3.) As most big bloggers have mentioned at some point in their blogs, it really DOES get very discouraging to blog when you feel like you put a lot of work into your blog and you feel like no one cares or even looks at it. However, I have come to realize that this is just like anything else in life. You have to sometimes go through the downs to enjoy the ups =) The best thing that has worked for me when I feel discouraged is to remind myself that I am doing this for MYSELF because I love what I do. I love fashion and make up and pretty things and that is what makes me happy. So... there is nothing to be discouraged about because I am doing what I love and I am doing this for myself and not for anyone else. ( It usually works like a charm ;))

4.) When I first started thinking about blogging, I of course talked to my husband about it. He of course thought it was a great idea to express my love for fashion on this blog ( and so I will leave him alone b/c the blog will keep me occupied ;)). But obviously he as well had no idea that blogging was so time consuming...about a month into blogging, he started second guessing my blog because it was taking up too much of my time everyday. Also, he is my photographer and he wasn't too happy about taking my outfit photos every single day lol (completely understandable)
However, now that its been 4 months, I think he is more hopeful that my blog is actually going somewhere and he has also become such a great photographer and sometimes he notices more things than I do ( for example my shirt is caught in my shorts or my necklace is on backwards) haha
With out the support of my husband, I would have definitely not had the chance or ability to start my very own fashion blog and I am so grateful to have such a great, caring, supportive husband along side me at all times.
(He has also become so good at taking photos, each outfit photo session only takes about 5 minutes now!! yay!)

5. Last but not least, there are SOOOO many fashion/life style bloggers out there and the support I have gotten from them so far is tremendous! I can't even begin to thank the kind words I receive daily from them. It is truly amazing and fun to get to share the same feeling, situations, and goals with these amazing girls/guys! Because of my fellow bloggers/instagrammers, it makes blogging even more fun! Thank you so much guys!

I know this post was sooooo long and if you did read the whole thing, you ROCK! hehe and thank you so much!
I hope you stay tuned on my new blog journey on this new site! I know it will take some time for me to get use to this site but I will make sure to try my best!

Thank you so much for reading!
